According to a social media post, race car driver Hunter Wright was nearly shot. The incident happened around 8:10 pm Tennessee time.
Julie Curtis Wright said that a bullet was fired into their shop off of McCrary Road and McCrary place. She said that Wright was in the shop working on a race car when the bullet entered the shop.
Curtis Wright said the younger Wright was “literally standing two feet from where it went through the garage into the radiator, grill, and duct work of one of the race cars, dented the sway bar, went up through the hood of the race car, and into the roof of the shop.” She believes this could be a random incident.
She also said that the incident could have been different, as it could have been tragic had it hit Wright. She is asking anybody, who may have heard anything, to send them information.
Wright said that the authorities were called and a police report was filed.
“We appreciate everyone’s help in this,” Curtis Wright wrote in the Facebook post. “Again, Hunter wasn’t hurt, but whoever did this needs to know exactly what could have happened.”
There was over $1,000 in damage to the race car. No estimated damage for the garage or roof.
