2018 Texas Longhorns Football Season In Review

In this story, we’ll look back on the Texas Longhorns 2018 college football season. The team finished with a 10-4 record.

The Longhorns celebrated a bowl win in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana on New Year’s night. Texas won 28-21 over the Georgia Bulldogs.

Sam Ehlinger went 275 of 425 for 3,292 yards. He also had 25 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Shane Buechele, his backup, went 30 of 44 for 273 yards. He also had two touchdowns and one interception.

Tre Watson led the team in rushing with 185 carries for 786 yards and three touchdowns. Keaontay Ingram also had 142 carries for 708 yards and three touchdowns.

Ehlinger also has a significant impact on the running game, as he had 164 carries for 482 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Lil’Jordan Humphrey led the team in receiving with 86 receptions for 1,176 yards and nine touchdowns. Collin Johnson had 68 receptions for 985 yards and seven touchdowns.

Devin Duvernay had also has a significant impact in the receiving game, as he had 41 receptions for 546 yards and four touchdowns.

Gary Johnson led the team on defense, as he had 90 tackles, including 16.5 tackles for a loss. He also had 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and one pass deflection.

Johnson was one of two players, who had more than 10 tackles for a loss. Charles Omenihu led the team with 18.0 tackles for a loss.

Omenihu also led the team in sacks, as he had 9.5 sacks. Johnson was second with 6.5 sacks on the season.

Cade Sterns led the team with four interceptions. Seven other players had one interception.

B.J. Foster, P.J. Locke III, and Johnson led the team with forced fumbles. Each had two forced fumbles. Eight players had one forced fumble.

Brandon Jones led the team with two fumble recoveries. Six players had one fumble recovery.

Kris Boyd was the only player with more than 10 pass deflections. He had 15, while Davante Davis was second with eight.

Ryan Bujcevski had 63 points for an average of 40.3 yards per punt. Cameron Dicker converted 51 of 52 extra points. He also made 18 of 25 field goal attempts.

D’Shawn Jamison had nine punt returns for 118 yards and a touchdown. Jones also had six punt returns for 65 yards.

Humphrey had 10 kickoff returns for 215 yards. Jamison had 10 kickoff returns for 202 yards, while Kyle Porter also had one kickoff return for 10 yards.
