According to KCTV 5, there will be no child abuse charges against Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The authorities re-opened the case against Hill once audio emerged in April.
The star wide receiver was suspended by the Chiefs after the audio became public. The authorities now are considering the case closed.
The Chiefs picked Mecole Hardman — a second-round draft pick — which plays similar to Hill, because the belief was that the team would part with speedy receiver.
The dark cloud that has been hovering over the Chiefs and Hill will now pass.
Despite no charges, Hill may still face discipline from the NFL. This could help Hill in keeping his job with the team.
He was suspended from all team activities in April. His financeé Crystal Espinal allegedly recorded the conversation during a walk in a Dubai airport.
She claimed that the son was terrified of his father. She also alleged that Hill broke the couple’s arm in the audio.
The audio was released shortly after the authorities refused to press charges against Hill in an alleged domestic violence incident. The authorities felt like a crime did occur; however, they were not able to say with certainty that it was Hill or Espinal.
“A child has been hurt,” Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe said. “As a prosecutor and a father of four kids, yes, it frustrates me when someone hurts a child and you can’t do anything about it.”
