Former NFL running back O.J. Simpson is now on social media. He has created a Twitter account — @TheRealOJ32.
He also has made a post on the account via a video. The post said “coming soon” with the video.
“Hey Twitter world, this is yours truly,” a smiling Simpson says in the video, which appears to have been taken from a golf course. “Now, coming soon to Twitter, you’ll get to read all my thoughts and opinions on just about everything. Now, there’s a lot of fake OJ accounts out there. So this one, @TheRealOJ32 is the only official one. So, this should be a lot of fun. I’ve got a little getting even to do. So God bless. Take care.”
The 71-year-old Simpson was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1969 NFL Draft. He played for the Buffalo Bills and the San Francisco 49ers in his career.
His playing career has been marred by two off-the-field incidents. Twenty five years ago, he was arrested and charged with murder.
The authorities alleged that he killed his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.
He would be later acquitted of those murder in a publicized trial. The families then sued Simpson in a civil lawsuit and won with a $33.5 million verdict.
In 2007, he was arrested and charged with several felonies in Las Vegas, Nevada. The felonies, included armed robbery and kidnapping.
He was sentenced to 33-years in jail in 2008 and served time at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, Nevada. He was granted early release on October 1, 2017.
