Nunes knocks out Holm at UFC 239

Amanda Nunes continues as the double-champ. She defeated Holly Holm in the co-main event of the UFC 239 card in Las Vegas.

Nunes hit Holm with a head kick then it capitalized when “The Preacher’s Daughter” was on the down. The fight was stopped at 4:10 of the first round.

This is the third knockout on the card. It was also the second straight knockout, as Jorge Masvidal knocked out Ben Askren. This was Askren’s first loss of his MMA career.

Yadong Song defeated Alejandro Perez by knockout (punches) in the fourth bout on the card.

The 31-year-old Salvador, Bahia, Brazil native improved to 18-4 in her MMA career. This is her 13th knockout of her career.

In addition, this is her third straight knockout. She also knocked out Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Justino by KO (Punches) in the first-round of their UFC 232 fight on Dec. 29, 2018 fight.

She also knocked out Raquel Pennington at UFC 224 in the fifth round. Nunes won via TKO (Elbows and Punches) at 2:36 in the fifth-round.

The 37-year-old Albuquerque, New Mexico native fell to 12-5 in her MMA career. This loss snapped her one-fight win streak, as she defeated Megan Anderson at UFC 225 on June 9, 2018 to get an opportunity at the title shot against Nunes.

This was the first time that Holm was knocked out in her career. She previously had three decision losses and one submission loss.

All five of her losses have come in her last seven fights. Besides defeating Anderson, the only other win was against Bethe Correia on June 17, 2017.
