Hawks sign free agent Jabari Parker

Atlanta Hawks have signed free agent forward Jabari Parker. He received a two-year, $13 million deal.

With the Hawks, he gets another opportunity to prove himself. He is join a young team, where he could potentially develop.

Parker adds a veteran presence with the team. The team also acquired Allen Crabbe and Evan Turner in trades.

Chandler Parsons was also acquired in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies, but he is expected to be bought out by the team.

Parker — who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft — has not lived up to expectations. He also had two ACL’s injury that has hampered his career.

He split this past season with the Chicago Bulls and the Washington Wizards. He was traded on February 6, 2019 by the Bulls, along with Bobby Portis and a 2023 second-round draft pick, to the Wizards for Otto Porter Jr.

After the trade, he appeared in 25 games, including zero starts with the Wizards. He averaged 15 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 27.3 minutes.

Before the trade, he appeared in 39 appearances, including 17 starts. He averaged 14.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.4 blocks in 26.7 minutes per game.

In his career, he has appeared in 247 games, including 167 starts. He averaged 15.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks in 29.7 minutes per game.
