She was sitting in a golf cart, according to the story, when her father went to tee off. The ball hit the young girl — who was approx. 20 feet away — in the back of the head and neck, Orem Police Lt. Trent Colledge said.

After medical personnel arrived, they called for a medical helicopter. She was then transported to Primary Children’s Medical Center, where she arrived in critical condition.

Several hours later, she passed away. The authorities are not releasing the father or daughter’s name.
