Moore was 17. She died on Monday, according to the IndyStar, at Riley Hospital for Children of IU Health.
“Around 7:30 am this morning, our sweet, beautiful girl went home to be with Jesus,” Tera Orman, her mother, posted on Facebook. “She waited for all of the immediate family to be here and took her last breath.”
She was a volleyball player at Linton-Stockton High before being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia on January 2018. Several months later, she was receiving a stem cell transplant.
Following this procedure, she was declared cancer free. However, the disease came back and caused her body to start to shut down, as the donor stem cells were rejected by her body, according to the story.
“Our family is devastated, but we know she is no longer in pain and is rejoicing in heaven with Jesus and all of our loved ones, who went before her,” Orman also said, who is married to her stepdad and pastor Gregg Orman. “I want to say thank you for all of the prayers and support you have all given Madi and our family, and please know that we will forever be grateful. Love you all.”
Moore announced the Colts fourth and fifth round draft picks from the Riley hospital with Colts players Kenny Moore and Pierre Desir. Funeral services have not been announced yet.
