As we reported on Tuesday, she was sitting in the golf cart when her father Kellen teed off. The ball that Kellen struck hit his daughter in the back of the head and neck at Sleepy Ridge Golf Course at approx. 10:30 am local time in Utah.
When she left the golf course, she was in critical condition. She was then flown to Primary Children in Salt Lake City, according to the post, where she later died from her injuries.
“She was his golfing buddy,” Smith explained to KSL. “She loved doing it and she would always be the one in the cart. That was something that was really important to them.”
The authorities are investigating the incident. However, Orem Police Lt. Trent Colledge has said this appears to be a tragic accident.
“This is absolutely unimaginable, and it’s been devastating to see it at the course and in the community,” Steven Marett, Head Golf Pro at the course said to KSL.
A GoFundMe has been established to help the family in their time of need. It can be found here.
