Yankees’ Voit hit in the face by pitch

A batter never wants to be hit in the face with a baseball when they’re batting. A pitcher never wants to experience that either, when the ball is coming off the hitters bat.

On Saturday, against the Colorado Rockies, New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit was hit by a pitch in the face by Rockies pitcher Chad Bettis. The ball hit him right in the mouth and went behind him.

Voit initially went to first base, but was removed from the contest. He underwent concussion protocol testing.

Eventually, after the testing, he was deemed to not have a concussion.

Voit has one at-bat in the contest. He was hit in the face during the fourth inning and it was not registered as an at-bat.

During his first at-bat in the game, he scored a run.

Gio Urshela finished the game at first base. He went 0-2 with a strikeout.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone could give Voit a few days off as he recovers from being hit in the face.
