Lowry wins The Open in first major win

Shane Lowry won his first career major on Sunday. He won The Open at Dunluce Course at the Royal Portrush Golf Club in County Antrim, Northern Ireland.

Lowry won the $10.7 million prize for the win. In addition, he won by six strokes.

It was the third-biggest margin of victory, according to ESPN, since World War II. England’s Tommy Fleetwood was second with a -9.

In their final round, Lowry had a +1 in his final round. Fleetwood had a +3 in his final round.

Before this event, the Irishmen had a second place finish at the 2016 U.S. Open in 2016. His previous best at The Open Championship was tied for ninth in 2014.

The first American on the scoreboard was Tony Finau, as he finished third. He was a -7 through the end of the tournament.

Finau had an even on his final round.

American Brooks Koepka finished fourth with England’s Lee Westwood. Koepka and Westwood were tied with a -6.

Koepka had a +3 in his final round. Westwood went +2 in his fourth round.
