Daniels visited the Cleveland Browns and the Lions. He now gets to play his former team twice a season now.

The Green Bay Packers released him on Tuesday. When the Packers released him, they saved $8.3125 million in cap space. The Green Bay Packers released him on Tuesday.

Daniels joins a defensive line that includes Damon Harrison, who the Lions acquired in a mid-season trade last season. Detroit shipped a draft pick to the New York Giants for his services.

The team struggled to stop the run last season in the first part of the season, according to the Detroit Free Press. The team improved as the season went on and finished 10th in the league

The team made a big splash in the off-season by adding Trey Flowers off the edge. They will also have Da’Shawn Hand, A’Shawn Robinson, and Romeo Okwara back for another season.

“I’m always optimistic,” defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni said earlier this week when asked how good his defensive line can be. “For me, it’s exciting to have the guys we have up front. So I’m not going to make any predictions, but our goal is to be as fundamentally-sound, as technique-aware and good as we can possibly be and hopefully make a bunch of tackles with the defensive line. That’ll make the coaches very, very happy, and I think the fans will be very happy, too.”

Daniels spent his first seven seasons in the league with the Packers.

The 30-year-old Stratford, New Jersey native was the Packers 4th round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. He missed 10 games during his entire tenure with the team.

This past season, he appeared in 10 games, including nine starts. He had 18 tackles, including one tackle for a loss and five quarterback hits.

Daniels also had 2.0 sacks, and one pass deflection.

The 10 games were the fewest he appeared in a season. Previously, he appeared in a career-low 14 games during the 2012 as a rookie and 2017.

He had a career-best 49 tackles in 2015 and 2017. He had a career-best 6.5 sacks during the 2013 season.

In his career, he has appeared in 102 games, including 72 starts. He has 236 tackles, including 47 tackles for a loss and 68 quarterback hits.

He also has 29.0 sacks, one interception, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and five pass deflections.
