Laughlin claims first No. 1 qualifier of 2019 at Sonoma

Havoline Pro Stock rider Alex Laughlin is the No. 1 qualifier on Saturday at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California. Laughlin went 6.520 at 210.80 mph at the Toyota NHRA Sonoma Nationals.

Laughlin was able to secure the No. 1 spot on Friday and was able to hold onto it. This is his first No. 1 qualifier of the season. In addition, this is his second No. 1 qualifier of his career.

“This is just a huge confidence-booster, not just for me but our whole team, especially coming back from Denver where we had our worst race of the season,” said Laughlin, who is looking for his first win of 2019. “All in all, the car is running great and I’m driving (well), and we really have a good shot at winning the whole thing tomorrow.”

The Bluff Dale, Texas native will face Val Smeland in the first-round of eliminations. The Shirley, New York native went 6.637 at 208.88 mph.

American Ethanol sponsored Deric Kramer is the No. 2 qualifier. The Sterling, Colorado native went 6.523 at 210.93 mph.

Kramer will face Steve Graham in the first-round of eliminations. The South San Francisco, California native went 6.607 at 207.02 mph.

JEGS/Elite Peformance Pro Stock driver Jeg Coughlin Jr. is the No. 3 qualifier. The Delaware, Ohio native went 6.533 at 210.41 mph.

Coughlin Jr. will face Fernando Cuadra Jr. in the first-round of eliminations. The León, México native went 6.583 at 209.26 mph.

Jim Butner Auto Group Pro Stock driver Bo Butner III is the No. 4 qualifier. The Floyds Knobs, Indiana native went 6.534 at 211.13 mph.

Butner III will face Steve Matusek in the first-round of eliminations. The Olathe, Kansas native went 6.582 at 208.78 mph.

Total Seal sponsored driver Matt Hartford is the No. 5 qualifier. The Scottsdale, Arizona native went 6.541 at 208.39 mph.

Hartford will face Chris McGaha in the first-round of eliminations. The Odessa, Texas native went 6.567 at 209.72 mph.
