Parts Plus/Laris Motorsports Insurance Top Fuel Dragster pilot Clay Millican is the No. 1 qualifier on Saturday at Sonoma Raceway. He went 3.698 at 330.96 mph at the Toyota NHRA Sonoma Nationals in Sonoma, California.
He recorded the pass on Friday. This was his best pass of the season since teaming with tuner Mike Kloeber in the off-season.
This is Millican’s third No. 1 qualifier of the season. It addition, it is his 23rd No. 1 qualifier of his career. Plus, this is his second No. 1 qualifier at Sonoma Raceway.
“[Saturday] was more like what we’re going to race in,” Millican said. “It is awesome to be the No. 1 qualifier and I was really excited we made a good run in the final qualifying session. I am so proud of everybody on this team. They work their tails off and, to me, qualifying is just fun. I feel good about our chances [Sunday], I’m ready and I know we can do more.”
The Drummonds, Tennessee native will have a bye in the first-round of eliminations.
Capco Contractors Top Fuel Dragster pilot Steve Torrence is the No. 2 qualifier. The Kilgore, Texas native went 3.717 at 325.85 mph.
Torrence will face Steven Chrisman in the first-round of eliminations. The Anaheim, California native went 18.759 at 30.06 mph.
Fellow Capco Contractors Top Fuel Dragster pilot Billy Torrence is the No. 3 qualifier. The Kilgore, Texas native went 3.718 at 325.85 mph.
The elder Torrence will face Steve Faria in the first-round of eliminations. The Tulare, California native went 5.210 at 132.75 mph.
Matco Tools Top Fuel Dragster pilot Antron Brown is the No. 4 qualifier. The Pittsboro, Indiana native went 3.721 at 327.43 mph.
Brown will face Cameron Ferré in the first-round of eliminations. The Huntington Beach, California native went 4.737 at 157.59 mph.
Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster pilot Doug Kalitta is the No. 5 qualifier. The Saline, Michigan native went 3.733 at 325.69 mph.
He will face Scott Palmer in the first-round of eliminations. The Cassville, Missouri native went 3.834 at 306.67 mph.
