The New Jersey Devils acquired Nikita Gusev on Monday. In exchange, the Vegas Golden Knights acquired two draft picks.

The first draft pick is a third-round pick during the 2020 NHL Draft. The second draft pick will be a second-round draft pick during the 2021 NHL Draft.

The Devils also signed Gusev to a two-year deal following the trade. He will receive $9 million with an average of $4.5 million per season.

This is definitely a gamble by the Devils. Gusev has no prior NHL experience.

However, he was a star in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). This past season, he had 17 goals and had 82 points through 62 games with St. Petersburg SKA.

While he has a lot of promise, it may take some time for Gusev to transition to the NHL. As a result, there is a lot of uncertainty about his first season in the league.
