Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Amir Garrett started a massive brawl on Tuesday night shortly after he rushed to the Pittsburgh Pirates dugout. The brawl happened in the ninth inning after Garrett threw several punches.

After being broken up for a short time, Yasiel Puig rekindled the brawl, as he was trying to go after the Pirates players. David Bell — who had been ejected earlier — came out of the dugout to support his players.

Bell is facing a suspension for coming onto the field after being ejected. Pirates hitting coach Rick Eckstein put Bell in a headlock before he was able to get out of it and started to yell at Pirates manager Clint Hurdle.

The Reds had five people, who were ejected.

In the seventh inning, Pirates pitcher Keone Kela threw up-and-in to Derek Dietrich in the seventh inning, according to the Associated Press. Following that inning, Joey Votto walked to the Pirates dugout, according to the story, and exchanged words, before umpire Larry Vanover separated Votto.

The next inning, Bell was ejected after arguing about a strike during Puig’s at-bat. Then, in the ninth, Reds pitcher Jared Hughes was

Ejected for hitting Starling Marte.

Garrett then came in from the bullpen and exchanged words with the Pirates. He then ran towards their dugout and the massive brawl was on.

After MLB reviews this incident, several players are expected to receive fines and likely suspensions.
