The historic Western Swing will conclude this weekend. The third event, the CatSpot NHRA Northwest Nationals, at Pacific Raceways will take place from Friday, August 2nd through Sunday, August 4th.
This is event No. 16 of the 24-event NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing schedule.
Pro Stock will compete at their lone Northwest event of the 2019 schedule. This event is 280 feet above sea level.
Tanner Gray won last year’s event. He defeated Deric Kramer in the Pro Stock final round one year ago.
Gray went 6.632 at 210.05 mph to win the Wally. Kramer went 17.716 at 46.38 in the losing effort.
While Gray off racing in NASCAR, Kramer will be competing at this event. His Team Summit teammates will also be there in Jason Line, Greg Anderson, Bo Butner III, Fernando Cuadra, Cristian Cuadra, and Fernando Cuadra Jr.
Anderson will look to sweep the historic Western Swing. He has won the previous two events in Morrison, Colorado and Sonoma, California.
He previously swept the Western Swing in 2004.
Elite Performance will also have their allotment of drivers in Jeg Coughlin Jr., Erica Enders, Alex Laughlin, Steve Matusek, and owner Richard Freeman. Kenny Delco Racing drivers Kenny Delco and Val Smeland will also be in the Pacific Northwest.
There will be 19 Pro Stock cars on the property this weekend. Only 16 will make the show on Sunday. That means three will be sent home during eliminations.
Other Pro Stock drivers attending including Alan Prusiensky, Matthew Hartford, Joey Grose, Steve Graham, and Chris McGaha.
Anderson and Line are the active drivers with the most wins at this facility. Anderson won in 2010, 2004, and 2003, while Line won in 2014, 2011, and 2008.
The late Bob Glidden has the most wins at this facility. He had six wins at this track, including wins in 1990, 1988, 1980, 1978, 1977, and 1975.
