The Golden State Warriors have re-signed forward Draymond Green. This means the core three players for the Warriors will be sticking together well into the future.
Green — who is considered the heart and soul of the team — has signed a four-year, $100 max contract with the franchise. However, this new extension will not kick in until the 2020-21 season.
He will now be under contract for the Warriors for the next five years. He’ll make $118 million over that time.

His new deal will pay him $22.2 million, $24 million, $25.8 million, and $27.6 million. He is slated to make $18.5 million this upcoming season.
Green has been on the NBA’s All-Defensive team for the past five seasons. During this time, he has been either first or second. He also was the league’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2017.
Together with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, the triplets have been able to guide the Warriors to five straight NBA Finals appearances. They have won three while losing two — 2016 to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 7 and the 2019 Toronto Raptors.
Thompson is expected to miss a significant part of the 2019-20 season after tearing an ACL in Game 6 of the NBA Finals in June. Without Thompson, Steve Kerr is expected to lean heavily on Curry and Green. He also has a new teammate — another All-Star — in D’Angelo Russell, who was acquired in a trade for Kevin Durant in July.

The team also moves into the Chase Center this upcoming season, as they adjust to their move from Oakland, California. The team will now call San Francisco, California home.
This past season in the regular season, Green appeared in 66 games. He started 66 games.
Green averaged 7.4 points per game. He also averaged 7.3 rebounds, 6.9 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.1 blocks per contest.
The 7.4 points per game was his fewest points per game average when he averaged 6.2 points per game during 82 games in the 2013-14 season as a 23-year-old.
