SummerSlam took place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Sunday night. This was the 32nd annual SummerSlam event.
It was the second SummerSlam event to be held at this venue. Previously, it was held there in 2004.
On the main card, “The Man” Becky Lynch defeated Natalya in a submission match to win the WWE Raw Women’s Championship. Goldberg then defeated Dolph Ziggler in their single’s match.
AJ Styles retained his WWE United States Championship with a win over Ricochet. Bayley also retained her WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship with a win over Ember Moon.
Kevin Owens was able to keep his job with the company. The storyline was if he lost to Shane McMahon, he would have to quit the company.
Charlotte Flair then defeated Trish Stratus by submission in their singles match. Kofi Kingston retained his WWE Championship over Randy Orton, as the match ended in a double countout.
“The Fiend” Bray Wyatt win his first match as his new character. He defeated Finn Bálor in their singles match.
To close the show, Seth Rollins won the WWE Universal Championship. He defeated Brock Lesnar to win the strap.
“I honestly don’t know what to say,” Rollins said during his backstage interview. “That took every single ounce of me for months physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It took every ounce of me to get that W.”
