Larry Holmes to be Pedregon’s guest at The Grove in Sept.

NHRA has special guests at the track almost every time their drivers compete. During the first race of the Countdown to the Championship, a boxing legend will be at their race.

Cruz Pedregon Racing has announced that Larry Holmes will be their guest at Maple Grove Raceway. The NHRA will be at The Grove from Sept. 13-15 in Mohnton, Pa.

Pedregon said Holmes is his all-time favorite athlete. The boxing legend will be making his first ever NHRA appearance.

Holmes resides in Easton, Pennsylvania, according to BoxRec. As a boxer, he went 69-6, including 44 knockouts.

He last competed in a boxing match in 2002.  Holmes defeated Eric Esch by unanimous decision.

He won the final four fights of his career. His last loss came against Brian Nielsen by split decision on Jan. 24, 1997 for the International Boxing Organization World Heavy Title.

In his boxing career, he fought big names like Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Michael Spinks, Trevor Berbick, Muhammad Ali, and Leon Spinks.
