Rice Owls freshman Wiley Green departed Friday night’s game against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The quarterback left on a backboard, according to ESPN, after taking a hit to the head.

Head Coach Mike Bloomgren said that Green had feeling in his body. He also said the team was waiting on word following a CT scan.

He attempted to dive into the end zone when he was hurt on a second-and-goal play. On the play, he took a shot to the head by Demon Deacons linebacker Justin Strnad.

After being hit, Green attempted to get up. However, he fell to the ground as he needed medical attention.

Trainers from each school rushed to his attention. He was down to the ground for nearly 10 minutes, according to the ESPN story, before eventually being placed on a backboard.

He was then placed on a cart and transported off of the field. He gave a thumbs up as he left.

Wake Forest won 41-21 over Rice at Rice Stadium in Houston, Texas. Green went 3 of 5 fo 69 yards.

He also had two carries for -9 yards.
