Kansas City Royals shortstop Adalberto Mondesí will have surgery next week on his shoulder. He is expected to miss 5-to-6 months.
Mondesí reportedly had his shoulder popped out that led to a tear. He was injured in a diving stop against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday.
He is expected to be back by the time spring training rolls around in February 2020. Depending on his rehab, he may miss the start the 2020 season.
The 24-year-old Los Angeles, California native Mondesí has spent the last four years with the Royals. This season, he appeared in 102 games.
He had .263 batting average with nine home runs and 62 RBIs on the season. Mondesí had 20 doubles and 10 triples on 58 runs, while having 109 hits in 415 at-bats.
