The New England Patriots will be without their long-time kicker for the rest of the season. Stephen Gostkowski will have season-ending hip surgery.

He will go on injured reserve. Gostkowski has been with the franchise since he was drafted in 2006.

Gostkowski — who has the record for the most team points — is expected to be ready for the 2020 season. He has had 1,775 points in 204 games.

While Gostkowski has been good in his career, he has struggled this season. He missed four extra points, which is normally unlike him.

Gostkowski was a free agent in the off-season. He re-signed a two-year deal with the team in April, according to WCVB 5.

The Patriots are going to work out kickers on Wednesday. The team is expected to sign one of the free agent kickers.
