Patriots defeat short-handed Giants in 2019 TNF meeting

The New York Giants were missing their key offensive weapon in the backfield, at wide receiver, and tight end. Yet, they put up much of a fight until the fourth quarter when things got out of hand.

The New England Patriots defeated the Giants, 35-14, on Thursday Night Football at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

With the win, the Patriots improved to 6-0 on the season. The are now 3-0 at home this season.

If you include their playoff wins, New England has won 19 straight home games.

The loss dropped the Giants to 2-4 on the season. They are now 1-2 on the road this season.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady went 31 of 41 for 334 yards. He also threw an interception.

Sony Michel had 22 carries for 86 yards. Brandon Bolden had three carries for 23 yards and a touchdown. Brady had seven carries for six yards and two touchdowns.

In addition, Brady became the oldest player in NFL history to have two rushing touchdowns at 42-years-old. Before Thursday night, Brady’s last game with two rushing touchdowns came in 2011.

Julian Edelman had nine receptions for 113 yards, while Jakobi Meyers had four receptions for 54 yards. James White had nine receptions for 46 yards and Gunner Olszewski had two receptions for 34 yards. Ryan Izzo had two receptions for 31 yards.

Giants quarterback Daniel Jones went 15 of 31 for 161 yards. He threw one touchdown pass and three interceptions.

Jonathan Hillman had 11 carries for 38 yards.

Golden State had six receptions for 102 yards, including a 64-yard touchdown reception. Darius Slayton had three receptions for 32 yards and Rhett Ellison had three receptions for 30 yards.

The Giants were without running back Saquon Barkley, wide receiver Sterling Shepard and tight end Evan Engram missed the game due to injuries. All three players are starters are their respective positions.

New England scored 14 points in the second half. Kyle Van Noy scored on a 22-yard fumble recovery. Brady also scored his second touchdown on a one-yard score.

The Patriots led 21-14 at halftime. Brady scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter. Brandon Bolden also scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.

Chase Winovich scored on a six-yard blocked punt return for a touchdown.

Jones hit Tate for a 64-yard touchdown reception. Markus Golden also scored on a 42-yard fumble return for a touchdown.
