During the second round of Pro Stock qualifying, there was a horrific accident at the NTK NHRA Carolina Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Concord, North Carolina. The accident involved Rockaway, New Jersey native Alan Prusiensky.

As he was going down the track, his Dodge Dart crossed the finish line. He attempted to get his parachutes to come out; however, there was a malfunction and they did not blossom.

His Cold Fire ride then darted in front of Chris McGaha. It missed the Odessa, Texas native, before crashing upside down against the wall.

Prusiensky then experienced a fireball when the car went back upright following the collision with the wall. There was extensive damage to the front end of the car after the accident.

The tire and front panel of the car came off during the incident. His parachutes did blossom after the crash to slow down the car.

He was able to walk away on his own power after the NHRA Safety Safari was able to get to him. However, he was transported to a local medical facility for an evaluation.

The likelihood of Prusiensky competing on Saturday and Sunday is slim now.
