Two people were injured, according to the report. The authorities said that the NASCAR transporter went off the side of the road and crashed into a guardrail on the shoulder.
The tractor trailer then went down an embankment and overturned. Eventually, the tractor trailer stopped in a wooded area.
The transporter belonged to the Kaulig Racing team. Matt Kaulig owns the team that will field Ross Chastain and Justin Haley at the Kansas Lottery 300 on Saturday at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas.
“While on the way to Kansas Speedway, the No. 10 Kaulig Racing transporter was involved in an unfortunate incident along I-40,” Team President Chris Rice said. “Both our hauler drivers are alert and have been transported to the hospital for further evaluation. As planned, our team will field both entries and compete for the win.”
Fox Carolina reports that both individuals, the driver and the passenger, were transported to Mission Hospital with serious injuries. While they are serious, they are not expected to be non-life threatening injuries.
The crash is presently under investigation.
