The New York City FC will not be able to play their playoff game at their home stadium. See, that is being used by the tenant of the stadium that they play at.

Due to a postponement of Game 4 on Wednesday between the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros, the NYCFC team will have to play their first playoff game at Citi Field. The Yankees will now play their home games on Thursday and Friday at Yankee Stadium on FS1.

If the Yankees advance to the World Series, they will need to use Yankee Stadium, which caused the dilemma for NYCFC.

Citi Field is the home of the New York Mets, who did not play the playoffs. The Yankees, who also own part of the NYCFC team, are playing the Astros in the American League Championship Series.

This is the second time that the NYCFC franchise had to play at Citi Field. In 2017, the team had to play their Decision Day game in Queens, New York against the Columbus Crew SC.

NYCFC will begin its playoff for the Audi MLS Cup on Wednesday, October 23rd at Citi Field. The Eastern Conference semifinal match will kick off at 7 pm EST.

The NYCFC will find out their opponent for their match on Saturday night. The D.C. United and Toronto FC play each other at 6 pm EST at BMO Field.

The winner of that match will then face off against NYCFC on FS1 on October 23rd.
