Pro Stock returns to the Texas Motorplex this weekend. This is event No. 22 of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. In addition, this is event No. 4 of the Countdown to the Championship.

The AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals take place in Ennis, Texas from Thursday, October 17 through Sunday, October 20, 2019.

Former Pro Stock driver Tanner Gray won the Wally at the 2018 edition of this fall race. Gray defeated JEGS/Elite Performance Pro Stock driver Jeg Coughlin Jr. in the final round.

The Denver, North Carolina native went 6.622 at 207.62 mph to win the Wally. The Delaware, Ohio native went 6.636 at 207.82 mph in the losing effort.

Gray is off competing in NASCAR now. While Gray is competing elsewhere, Coughlin Jr. will be competing at this event.

Besides Coughlin Jr., his Elite Performance teammates Erica Enders, Alex Laughlin, and Aaron Stanford will also be on the grounds. Laughlin has a dilemma on his hands, as he will be competing at Radial vs. The World in Valdosta, Georgia at the Duck Productions event.

He will then hop on a plane and be near Dallas on Saturday in an attempt to qualify for Sunday’s event. He got lucky due to weather that changes his plans, as he was initially attempting to qualify in Dallas, then fly to Georgia to race on Saturday, then go back to Dallas on Sunday.

Team Summit will have their bunch on the property. This includes Jason Line, Greg Anderson, Bo Butner III, Deric Kramer, Cristian Cuadra, Fernando Cuadra, and Fernando Cuadra Jr.

Kenny Delco Racing will have its two drivers in Kenny Delco and Val Smeland. Other Pro Stock drivers on the property include Richie Stevens Jr., Shane Tucker, Matthew Hartford, and Chris McGaha.

There will be 17 Pro Stock drivers and teams on the property this weekend. Only 16 teams and their respective drivers will make the field on Sunday. This means one team and their driver will not make the show after Saturday’s two qualifying sessions.

Anderson is the active driver with the most wins at this facility. The North Carolina native has four wins, including wins in 2003, 2005, 2009, and 2010.

“The Professor” Warren Johnson has the most wins all-time with five. He has wins in 1989, 1997, 1998, 1999 (twice).
