Pro Stock Motorcycles return to the Texas Motorplex this weekend. This is event No. 22 of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. In addition, this is event No. 4 of the Countdown to the Championship.
The AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals take place in Ennis, Texas from Thursday, October 17 through Sunday, October 20, 2019.
Pro Stock Motorcycle rider L.E. Tonglet defeated his White Alligator Racing teammate Jerry Savoie last year in the final round. The Louisiana firefighter, who is from Matairie, Louisiana, went 6.892 at 194.80 mph to win the Wally.
The Cut Off, Louisiana native went 6.907 at 193.88 mph in the losing effort.
In the off-season, Tonglet announced that he was going to run a limited schedule this season. However, he has not competed in any events, as the season is almost over.
Savoie is on the entry list to compete at this event. This could be Savoie’s last trip to Texas, as he plans on stepping away from racing in the off-season barring any last minute change of heart.
His White Alligator Racing teammate Karen Stoffer will be joining him in Texas.
Matt Smith Racing will have several riders on the property. This includes 2018 Pro Stock Motorcycle champion Matt Smith, Angie Smith, Scotty Pollacheck, and Michael Ray Jr. Kelly Clontz, who also receives assistance from Smith, will also be on the property.
Screamin’ Eagle Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Pro Stock Motorcycle riders Andrew Hines, Eddie Krawiec, and Angelle Sampey will be competing near Dallas. Lucas Oil riders Hector Arana and his son, Hector Arana Jr. will be competing at this event.
Other Pro Stock Motorcycle riders Andie Rawlings, Steve Johnson, Ryan Oehler, and rookie Jianna Salinas will also be at the track. Last weekend, Johnson picked up his first No. 1 qualifier since 2013 at the NTK NHRA Carolina Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Concord, North Carolina.
There will be 17 Pro Stock Motorcycles on the property this weekend. Only 16 teams and their respective riders will make the show on Sunday following Saturday’s two qualifying sessions. This means one team and their respective driver will be sent packing for home after missing the field
Krawiec has the most wins at this facility all-time in the PSM category. He has three wins, including wins in 2013, 2016, and 2017.
