Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Matt Tifft was transported to a local hospital in Martinsville, Virginia on Saturday morning. Front Row Motorsports says he went there for further evaluation.
Tifft, according to the team, suffered a medical condition at the track. He has been evaluated and released and is returning home.

As a result of this announcement, Tifft will not be able to drive the Surface Sunscreen/Tunity entry for First Data 500 at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday. He will be replaced by Truck Series driver Matt Crafton.

“I’ll do all I can do to help them out in any way I possibly can,” Crafton said. “I hate it for Matt and every one of these guys. I was just getting around this morning and I got a phone call. I didn’t know if it was one of the telemarketers. I was like, ‘Do I even answer this?’ I answered and it was Wingo asking, ‘Can you come to practice our car here in like 30, 45 minutes?’ I’m like, ‘Uh, yeah sure!’”
Tifft has made 32 starts on the season. He has completed 8,502 of the possible 8,842 laps he has competed in. Plus, he has also led one lap, which came in Week 12 at the Digital Ally 400 at Kansas Speedway on Saturday, May 11th, 2019.
He has had one Top 10 finish, which came at the Coke Zero Sugar 400 on July 7, 2019, at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Tifft finished ninth in that race in the Ron Jon Surf Shop 60th Anniversary entry for Bob Jenkins.
