The Seattle Seahawks suffered devastating news on Monday. Their starting center will miss the rest of the season.
Justin Britt suffered a torn ACL on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. Now, he will be sidelined while he has to watch his teammates play.
With this injury happening at the midway point in the season, Britt should be able to be back to full strength by the time of the 2020 season begins. That campaign will be the final year on his contract.
The Seahawks are expected to start Joey Hunt in Britt’s place. Hunt has appeared in six games this season.
Hunt appeared in 55 offensive snaps on Sunday against the Falcons. Before that game, he appeared in 11 offensive snaps on the season.
He had one offensive snap in the season-opener against the New Orleans Saints. He also had seven offensive snaps against the Cleveland Browns in Week 6 and had three offensive snaps in Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens.
Britt — who has been the team’s starting center the past four seasons — started eight games this season before his injury. He had 500 offensive snaps in those eight starts.
