Josh Gordon is no longer a part of the New England Patriots, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He has been released from injured reserve.
Gordon will now go into the waiver process. Schefter said that the wide receiver wants to be with a “good, supportive situation.”
He was placed on IR with a minor knee injury. Whoever claims Gordon will be responsible for the rest of the money on his deal.
This was a Patriots thing to do as they burnt the rest of the league with this move. If they had just released him, New England would have been responsible for his contract.
He became expendable after the Patriots acquired Mohamed Sanu in a trade. New England sent a second round draft pick to the Atlanta Falcons to get Sanu.
