Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry had surgery on his injured hand on Friday. With the operation, he will miss the next three months.
Curry is the Warriors’ latest devastating injury. In the past year, the team lost Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant to season-ending injuries.
Thompson tore his ACL in Game Six of the NBA Finals in June. Durant suffered a torn Achilles in Game Five of the NBA Finals.
Both Splash Brothers are out of the lineup as Thompson will miss the 2019-20 season. Durant — who signed with the Brooklyn Nets in the off-season — will also miss the 2019-20 season with his new teammates.
Now, the Warriors will be down to one of their core players, Draymond Green. Golden State also has D’Angelo Russell, who was acquired in a trade for Durant.
Curry has missed 44 games over the last two seasons. With his three-month absence, he’s going to play the fewest amount of games since the 2011-12 season when he played in 26 games.
The Baby-Faced Assassin appeared in four games, including four starts. He averaged 20.3 points per game with 5.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 28 minutes.
Curry has played in the first four games of the season. He started all four games for the Warriors.
This season, before the injury, he was averaging 20.3 points per game. He also had 5.0 rebounds per game.
