Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith’s son E.J. was undergoing surgery on Tuesday, according to a social media post. Smith posted that his son broke his hand.
Smith is a member of the Class of 2020. The Wide Receiver plays for Jesuit College Prep and is undecided on his college future.
He has a 96th ranking in the ESPN 300. ESPN has Smith with a four-star, 84 ranking.
“Asking for all your prayers and love,” Smith posted. “EJ is going into surgery right now after he broke his hand. We’re wishing him the most speedy recovery.”
With this injury, there is a good chance that his high school football journey is over. His team ends the regular season on Friday night against Plano East. The playoffs are up in the air, because according to MaxPreps, Jesuit College Prep has a 5-4 record.
Smith has not made his college decision on his future yet. However, he does have offers from the Alabama Crimson Tide, Arkansas Razorbacks, Duke Blue Devils, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Kentucky Wildcats, Michigan Wolverines, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Stanford Cardinal, TCU Horned Frogs, Texas A&M Aggies, and the USC Trojans.
The older Smith attended the University of Florida before being the 17th overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft by the Cowboys.
