Sponsorship in Motorsports can be tough to come by. In addition, they can be tough to maintain.
Bob Vandergriff Racing is the latest team to go through that. Rookie Jordan Vandergriff, the nephew of long-time Top Fuel pilot Bob Vandergriff, is now without a sponsor.
D-A Lubricant Company is not returning to the drag racing team in 2020. Vandergriff competed in the D-A Lubricant Company sponsored Top Fuel Dragster in 10 events in 2019.
“This was very unexpected,” team owner Bob Vandergriff said. “To find this out at the beginning of November puts us behind the eight-ball in trying to find a partner for Jordan in 2020. We will continue to field a car for Shawn Reed and Josh Hart while we actively pursue sponsorship for Jordan.”
This news comes with one race left in the 2019 season. Vandergriff did not compete at the season-opener in February at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in Pomona, California.
Presently, Vandergriff is not listed on the entry list for the Auto Club NHRA Finals. The finale will take place on November 14-17.
Vandergriff has one runner-up finish and three semi-finals in the 10 races. He lost to Billy Torrence at the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas in October.
