Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailia has been injured against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Instead of re-injuring his ankle which he had previously had surgery on, he injured his hip.

Tagovailoa was initially thought to have a bloody nose when he went down after being tackled by two Bulldogs defensive players. However, it was immediately clear that he could not put any weight on his legs.

This meant that a cart had to come out and he needed to get help to the locker room for medical attention. ESPN reported during the game that he was screaming in pain.

Head coach Nick Saban said he wanted Tagovailoa to do a two-minute drill before halftime with the Tide leading 35-7. Several plays later, Tagovailoa was injured.

Tagovailoa went 14 of 18 for 256 yards before being injured against the Bulldogs. He also had two touchdown passes.

On the season, Tagovailoa considered a first-round draft pick before his injury, has gone 180 of 252 for 2,840 yards. He had 33 touchdown passes and three interceptions.

With Tagovailoa sidelined, the Crimson Tide will go with their next quarterback option. That option may be Mac Jones, as he came in for Tagovaila after he had to leave the game.

Jones will finish the game with the Bulldogs. Then, Saban and the coaching staff will determine the next step moving forward.
