JEGS/Elite Performance Pro Stock driver Jeg Coughlin Jr. is the No. 1 qualifier in his category at the Auto Club NHRA Finals. The Delaware, Ohio native went 6.533 at 210.70 mph at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in Pomona, California.
This is Coughlin Jr.’s third No. 1 qualifier of the season. He used the quickest pass of the weekend in the category to reclaim the top spot on Saturday in the final qualifying session.
“We’re just trying to make good quality runs tomorrow,” said Coughlin, who has 32 career No. 1 qualifiers. “Erica’s had a good season and a great Countdown. We’re working hard to get every point we can and see if we can parlay this into something exceptional, which would be a Pro Stock championship or at least the top two in points. There’s a lot of racing left. Pomona is a fun place to be and I like where I’m sitting. Sunday is going to be a fun day.”
Coughlin will face Joey Grose in the first-round of eliminations. The Lodi, California native went 6.649 at 207.56 mph.
Melling Performance/Elite Performance Pro Stock driver Erica Enders is the No. 2 qualifier. The Houston, Texas native went 6.538 at 210.93 mph.
Enders will face Greg Anderson in the first-round of eliminations. The Mooresville, North Carolina native went 6.646 at 187.73 mph.
Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock driver Jason Line is the No. 3 qualifier. The Troutman, North Carolina native went 6.544 at 210.01 mph.
Line will face Shane Tucker in the first-round of eliminations. The Statesville, North Carolina native went 6.628 at 209.07 mph.
Jim Butner Auto Group Pro Stock driver Bo Butner is the No. 4 qualifier. The Floyds Knobs, Indiana native went 6.557 at 210.83 mph.
He will face Val Smeland in the first-round of eliminations. The Shirley, New York native went 6.615 at 209.59 mph.
Havoline Pro Stock driver Alex Laughlin is the No. 5 qualifier. The Bluff Dale, Texas went 6.565 at 210.70 mph.
Laughlin will face Steve Graham in the first-round of eliminations. The South San Francisco, California native went 6.595 at 209.43 mph.
