Alderson Broaddus head football coach Sal Dewalt has stepped down. He had been the team’s head coach for the past three seasons.

A national search has begun to find his replacement. At this time, there is no announcement on if an interim head coach has been announced in the mean time.

Dewalt guided the Battlers to a 1-9 record during the 2019 season. Their lone win of the season came at home.

The team began the season with an 0-8 record. Their lone win came in a 24-17 win over the Walsh University (Ohio) Cavaliers on Nov. 9 in Philippi, West Virgin in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference game.

The team then lost its season finale in a 41-30 game to the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers on Nov. 16.

The 1-9 record was Dewalt’s worst record during a season at the school. His best record was a 4-7 record during the 2018 season.

As the school’s head football coach, he went 8-24.
