Benedict College Tigers have relieved Mike White of his head football coach duties on Tuesday. He was the school’s leader on the field for five seasons.
As the football coach, he went 19-30 during his tenure. A national search has begun to find his replacement.
This season, the team went 1-9. The Tigers went 1-3 at home and went 0-4 on the road with a two-game losing streak at neutral site games.
Benedict went 1-5 in conference play. The team got out to a seven-game losing streak to begin the season.
Their lone win of the season came against the Clark Atlanta Panthers in a 31-7 win.
The Tigers then lost its final two games of the season. They were outscored 72-37 in losses to the Lane Dragons and the Kentucky State Thorobreds.
White began his tenure with an 0-10 record in the 2015 season. He then rebounded as their coach with a 5-6 record.
The Tigers then had two winning seasons, as the team went 13-5 in 2017 and 2018. Benedict College went 7-2 in 2017, then had a 6-3 record in 2018.
The 1-9 record in 2019 was one of three losing records at the school.
