Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the NFL‘s Philadelphia Eagles, has stepped up to make good of a bad situation. The facility will host the remaining of the Camden Panthers and Pleasantville Greyhounds playoff game.

The Central Jersey, Group 2 semifinal game will begin at 4 pm on Wednesday.

“Following NJSIAA’s statement on Saturday related to the completion of the game on Wednesday, November 20, at a neutral site, we can now announce that the Philadelphia Eagles have offered to host the suspended Pleasantville H.S/Camden H.S. football playoff game,” NJSIAA Executive Director Larry White said in a statement. “Each high school will be provided with a defined number of free passes, specifically for distribution to players’ parents and family members; the game will be closed to the general public.

“Specific details on the game passes will be provided shortly to both schools.”

The game was stopped at the 4:58 mark in the third quarter. Camden was leading 6-0 at the time.

The gunfire stopped the contest, as an individual — now known as Alvin Wyatt — allegedly fired shots at the Pleasantville stands.

Three people were injured in the shooting, including two juveniles. Five people have been arrested for the incident.

“I can’t wait,” Camden senior linebacker Tirek Austin-Cave said, according to NJ.com. “I really appreciate the Eagles and everyone, who approved it. I thank God for making everything work out.

“It’s been a whole bunch of mixed emotions, just trying to figure out why. We just want to get back to playing football at a high level on Wednesday.”

The winner of the game will then move on to face Cedar Creek on Saturday for the Sectional Championship.

“It’s extremely unfortunate that a senselessly violent act has impacted this game, and there will certainly be a wide range of emotions along both sidelines,” White continued in the statement. “However, thanks to the Eagles’ generosity and community spirit, Pleasantville and Camden student-athletes and their families will have an opportunity to write their own ending to this game.

“They’ll compete on a world-class stage, sending a clear message that violence will not win.”
