Marauders part ways with football coach Pearl

According FootballScoop, Central State Marauders football coach Cedric Pearl will not return for the 2020 season. His contract was not renewed by the school.

The post did not indicate if Central State has begun a search. However, one has to believe that a search is underway to replace him.

Pearl led the program for six seasons. He was 19-41 during his tenure.

He could not guide the program to more than five wins in a season. He accomplished the five win seasons in 2015 and 2018.

In his final season with the program, he guided the program to a 3-7 record. Two of the three wins came at home, while the third win was on the road.

The team began this previous season on a two-game losing streak. The team then defeated the Clark Atlanta Panthers in a 26-19 win on Sept. 21.

The Marauders then lost to the Alabama A&M Bulldogs, before defeating the Edward Waters (Florida) Tigers in a 28-21 win on Oct. 5.

The program then lost back-to-back games to the Fort Valley State Wildcats on homecoming. The team then lost to the Tuskegee Tigers.

Their final win of the season came against the Miles Golden Bears in a 15-13 win. The team then lost to the Lane Dragons and the Kentucky State Thorobreds to conclude the season.
