According to ESPN, we now know who Conor McGregor will have in his first UFC in more than a year. Dana White told Brett Okamoto that the Irishman will face Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
The two will do battle on January 18th, 2020. This mega fight will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The two men have been clashing on social media for quite some time. Cerrone was one of two men that was mentioned when McGregor had a press conference in Russia to announce his next fight would be on January 18th.
McGregor has not been in the Octagon since Oct. 6, 2018. On that day, he lost to undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Following the fight when McGregor tapped out, there was a brawl between both teams. This lead to suspensions and fines.
The 31-year-old “Notorious” fighter will bring a 21-4 record into the bout. He has lost his last two professional fights if you also include his boxing debut in August 2017.
McGregor lost the bout with Mayweather in the 10th round. He lost via a TKO (pinches).
The bout with Nurmagomedov lasted four rounds when it ended at the 3:03 mark due to a neck crank submission.
It’s been three years since McGregor last won an MMA fight. He defeated Eddie Alvarez in a second-round TKO at Madison Square Garden in New York on November 12, 2016.
The 36-year-old “Cowboy” brings a 36-13-1 record into the bout. He is on a two-fight losing streak.
He lost his last fight to Justin Gaethje — who was also mentioned as a candidate to face McGregor — in their Sept. 14, 2019 bout. He also was defeated by Tony Ferguson on June 8, 2019.
Both of these losses were by TKO’s.
Cerrone has not won a bout since Al Iaquinta in May 2019. He won that bout via a unanimous decision.
