Cal Poly hires Beau Baldwin as head football coach

Cal Poly Mustangs have hired Beau Baldwin as their new head football coach, according to FootballScoop. He replaces Tim Walsh, who retired at the end of the season.
Baldwin will be officially announced on campus on Wednesday at 5 pm PST. He will be the 17th head football coach in program history.
The announcement will come in the school’s Recreation Center’s Mutli-Activity Center. The public is invited to attend the press conference.

This will be Baldwin’s third head coaching opportunity. He previously was the program leader with the Eastern Washington Eagles and the Central Washington Wildcats.
Baldwin spent nine seasons as the Eagles head coach. The Eagles play in the same conference — Big Sky Conference — that the Mustangs.
As a head football coach, he is 95-35. He has also gone 64-16 in conference play.
Baldwin previously went 85-32, including a 58-14 record in the Big Sky Conference. He also guided the program to six playoff appearances, including the FCS National Championship following the 2010 season.

As a head football coach, Baldwin has never had a losing record during his coaching career. He does have three 6-5 records — in 2008, 2011, and 2015 — the only time his teams did not qualify for the FCS playoffs.
Baldwin takes over a program that went 3-8 during the 2019 season.
