This will be the second Bowl game of the season. In addition, this will be the first Bowl meeting between these two teams.
The Aggies and Golden Flashes will do battle for the first-time since the 1974 season. Utah State won that meeting, 27-24, on Oct. 19, 1974.

This will be the Golden Flashes first Bowl game since the 2012 season. However, while it’s been seven-years between Bowl appearances, Kent State has never won a Bowl game.
Before the 2012 season Bowl contest, their last Bowl appearance came during the 1972 season. They were defeated 21-18 by the Tampa Spartans in the Tangerine Bowl at Tangerine Bowl Stadium on Dec. 29, 1972.
In their first Bowl game, they were defeated 19-7 by the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens in the Refrigerator Bowl in 1954 at a stadium in Evansville, Indiana.
This is the Aggies’ 13th Bowl game. In addition, this is the third straight year that Utah State has been selected to compete in a Bowl game to end their season.
Since the 2011 season, the team has appeared in eight Bowl games. Before the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl during the 2011 season, their previous Bowl game was in the Humanitarian Bowl (now the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl) in 1997.
The Aggies bring a 7-5 record into the contest. The Golden Flashes were Bowl eligible with a 6-6 mark.
