Former NBA Commissioner David Stern has passed away. He was 77.
Stern never recovered from his brain hemorrhage on December 17th. The league announced his death three weeks after his injury.
He served as NBA Commissioner from 1984 through 2014. During his leadership, the league saw tremendous growth, especially making the league a global brand.
“Because of David, the NBA is a truly global brand – making him not only one of the greatest sports commissioners of all time but also one of the most influential business leaders of his generation,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement.
