Alexis DeJoria is just a few weeks away from making her Funny Car return in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. ROKiT Phones and ABK Beer will sponsor DeJoria through multi-year agreements.
DeJoria is returning in February after not competing in 2018 and 2019. She retired at the end of the 2017 season to spend more time with her family.
But the racing itch brought her back to the sport. She is going to be driving for DC Motorsports, a newly formed team that is owned by Del Worsham.
“Joining Del Worsham’s newly-formed DC Motorsports team was just the first step in reigniting my question at brunt the first female Funny Car World Champion, and I’m thrilled that ROKiT is coming along for the ride,” DeJoria said. “I can’t wait to get back on the track and [I] am energized and excited about all the things we have in store for the amazing NHRA fans.”
DeJoria will make her return at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com on Friday, February 7th. Two days later, if she makes the show, she will make her first elimination pass on Sunday, February 9th.
Besides being on DeJoria’s car, the two brands will also have opportunities available for the fans. ROKiT Phones will have a 3D racing experience for the fans, while ABK Beer will have a truck available for fans to purchase at the races.
“Alexis is a trailblazer and one of the most accomplished women in motorsports,” said Jonathan Kendrick, co-founder of ROKiT. ”She’s a world-class athlete known for her tenacity, drive for perfection, and innate ability to lead the pack. These qualities, along with her unwavering desire to challenge the status quo make her the perfect ambassador for our brands.”
