The Cincinnati Reds have signed free agent outfielder Nicholas Castellanos, according to The Athletic. It’s a four-year agreement.

There were so many times that Castellanos was mentioned in the months since free agency started to different teams. But it took a $64 million agreement to seal the deal with the Reds.

This is the same deal that the Reds gave to Mike Moustakas earlier this off-season. Moose took back-to-back one-year deals before receiving this multi-year agreement.

According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, Castellanos can opt-out of his agreement after the 2020 season. He could also opt-out of his agreement after the 2021 season if he does not opt-out following one season with the team.

It’s going to be interesting to see where he fits in. The team also has Nick Senzel, Jesse Winker, Shogo Akiyama, and Aristides Aquino on the depth chart at the outfield positions.

The 27-year-old spent the 2019 season with the Detroit Tigers and the Chicago Cubs. This is Castellanos’ third MLB team.

The Davie, Florida native had a .289 batting average with 27 home runs and 73 RBIs in 615 at-bats between the Tigers and Cubs. He also had 58 doubles and three triples on 178 hits, while scoring 100 runs.
