The Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves made a blockbuster deal on Thursday. This deal happened approximately two hours before the NBA trade deadline.
The Warriors shipped D’Angelo Russell to the Timberwolves. Minnesota has been trying to get Russell since this summer.

Golden State acquired him in a blockbuster deal that sent Kevin Durant to the Brooklyn Nets in a sign-and-trade deal this past summer.
There has been unconfirmed speculation for quite some time that he did not fit in with Steve Kerr’s system. Also, he was allegedly unhappy with the losing.
The Warriors also sent Jacob Evans and Omari Spellman to the Wolves, as well.
Things began to intensify for this deal after Tuesday night’s mega four-team, 12-player deal. Timberwolves Vice President of Basketball Operations Gersson Rosas attempts to make Karl-Anthony Towns, who has publicly said he was not happy with the direction of the team..
Minnesota has been infatuated with Russell since Rosas took over.
In exchange, the Warriors added Andrew Wiggins. The former No. 1 overall pick has underperformed during his entire tenure in Minnesota.
In addition, Golden State has received a 2021 first-round draft pick. This pick is top-three protected.
Also, a 2021 second-round draft pick is now owned by the Warriors.
