Funny Cars return to Auto Club Raceway this weekend. The 60th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by Protect The Harvest will take place from Friday through Sunday.

This will be the first-time that Funny Cars hit the track in the season since last November. This will also be one of 24 events on the season.

Robert Hight will attempt to win his second straight Winternationals race. He defeated Jack Beckman in last year’s final round.

The reigning Funny Car pilot went 3.881 at 329.75 mph to claim the Wally. Beckman went 3.880 at 329.42 mph.

Both drivers are expected to compete this weekend. Living legend John Force will also be back.

Don Schumacher Racing drivers Ron Capps, Matt Hagan, Tommy Johnson Jr. will join Beckman on the property. Kalitta Motorsports will have their lone Funny Car representative back in J.R. Todd.

Full-time drivers Bob Tasca III, Tim Wilkerson, Cruz Pedregon, Jim Campbell and Alexis DeJoria will be competing. For DeJoria, she returns after missing the 2018 and 2019 season due to retirement.

Also, Tasca III will be competing this weekend after there was a freak accident with his crew members at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. He is expected to talk about the incident on Friday.

Part-time drivers include Paul Lee, Terry Haddock, Bob Bode Jr., Steve Densham, and Alex Miladinovich, who is making his Funny Car debut. Miladinovich is a former Nostalgia Funny Car.

Jeff Diehl was on the entry list. However, due to Steve Torrence’s disagreement with the NHRA, he is electing to sit out the race.
