By Anthony Caruso III | Publisher

Monster Energy Top Fuel Dragster pilot Brittany Force is the No. 1 qualifier of the 60th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals on Saturday at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in Pomona, California. She went 3.657 at 334.32 mph.

Force was one of three drivers, who had better times than they did on Friday. Her boyfriend Shawn Langdon was the provisional No. 1 qualifier after going 3.699 at 322.42 mph on Friday.

“That was an incredible pass for this team,” Force said. “It’s the first race of the season and I’m excited to be out here in Pomona. I’m excited to be out here with the same team. We came out this weekend and ran consistent all weekend long. We were able to push on that last run. It was pretty incredible and I’m ready to go into race day tomorrow. Your confidence going into the start of the season is much higher. Last season we came out strong from the beginning. We hung on to that number one spot and I just found out Austin (Prock) was number two. Pretty exciting. JFR is off to a good start this season.”

Force will receive a bye in the first-round of eliminations. With it being a 13-car field, there will be a bye pairing, as Top Fuel will go quicker in the first-round, barring an oil down or an explosion.

Her John Force Racing teammate Austin Prock went 3.680 at 330.72 mph. He will face Cameron Ferre — who just made a pass on Saturday — in the first-round after he went 4.321 at 208.65 mph.

Mopar-sponsored Leah Pruett went 3.687 at 328.06 mph to claim the third spot. She will face Jim Maroney in the first-round of eliminations, as he went 4.035 at 294.43 mph.

Langdon — who will make his first elimination passes in Top Fuel in two years on Sunday — claimed the fourth position. He will face Justin Ashley in the first-round, as he went 3.967 at 236.01 mph.

Doug Kalitta — who bookended the NHRA season at Pomona with wins in 2019 — is the No. 5 qualifier. He went 3.717 at 330.39 mph in his Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster.

He will face Brandon Welch in the first-round of eliminations. Welch went 3.841 at 272.17 mph.

Other Top Fuel pairings:

6) Shawn Reed 3.735 at 328.86 mph vs. 9) Antron Brown 3.780 at 322.42 mph

7) Terry McMillen 3.748 at 322.58 mph vs. 8) Clay Millican 3.750 at 323.19 mph
